Kunst Gallery, Philippines

…it started with idea, a brave challenge to overcome poverty and illiteracy in promoting Filipino Artistry to the world. And the rest is Serendipity !

One lazy afternoon,Virgilio G Cuizon, a  recipient of Banaag Award 2004, a Presidential Award for valuable contribution and active leadership in promoting Filipino Artistry and Culture in Europe,   met Bill Perez, Batangas City coordinator for visual art of National Commission for Culture and the Arts ( NCCA ) and member of Batangas City Cultural Affairs Committee.

Both were mystically driven to take action in facing the challenge. KUNST  Batangas Metropolitan Gallery was conceived. The next project is where to build the gallery. The heaven sent Carol Fetalvero, allowed their ancestral piece of land for the project. Surprisingly, the soon to be address of the gallery is on number 69 Rizal Avenue, Batangas City, the very same Philippine National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal which the European Academe in Art Circle acknowledge sublimely as an artist as well. All fell into pieces on July 22, 2005, its inaugural ceremony and a formidable trio for promoting Filipino talent was born.

Today, Kunst Batangas Metropolitan Gallery is slowly but surely making mark in its mission promoting Arts and Culture locally and internationally. It aims also to bridge the culture gap between Europe and the Philippines through an annual participation of Prized Filipino Visual Artists to the Philippine Independence Day Celebration Art Exhibit in various key cities in Europe, North America, South America and Asia.
